Our recent GOOD DESIGN® award win for the Rochester Lounge Series is the latest evidence of the broad application potential Stance products offer end-users in healthcare settings and beyond.

Each year, The Chicago Athenaeum presents the GOOD DESIGN® Awards Program for the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product, and graphic designs produced around the world. We are honored for Stance’s Rochester collection to be among this year’s diverse group of honorees!

Designed by Brian Graham, Rochester is a timeless lounge collection featuring sculptural lines, a rounded back, and simple legs. Tailored for a wide range of healthcare applications, this collection includes an integrated clean-out space, optional solid surface surround arm caps and field-replaceable upholstery.

The inspiration for Rochester centered on creating a new-and-improved “flop sofa” for healthcare spaces. What resulted was not only a three-seat sofa, with its signature fabric-ribbon surrounded base, but complementary lounge seating and two-seat sized sofa.

"The GOOD DESIGN® Award win for Rochester underscores the uniqueness of this series. Initially conceived as a modern take on a flop sofa, it naturally evolved into an inviting lounge collection, adaptable and suitable for almost any healthcare setting,” says Graham. “We are deeply grateful for this recognition and extend our heartfelt appreciation to the GOOD DESIGN® team for highlighting Rochester’s achievements."

In addition to its unique form, Rochester is also acclaimed for its sustainable impact. The GOOD DESIGN® award follows Rochester’s 2023 Nightingale Sustainability Award at the Healthcare Design Conference + Expo.
